It is an integral part of the Institute's mission statement that the Institute would continue to enhance the skills and knowledge of members through CPD programmes and provision of an alternative and a flexible avenue for members to advance.

The need to be relevant and current is inevitable given the rapid changes in taxation, company laws, financial reporting standards and not to mention the impact of globalization on the local economy. Clients and employers would want to see speedy and expedient resolution of problems and issues through the use of new knowledge, skills and improved methods. Companies and practices are under pressure to cut cost and raising productivity in order to survive and strive.

The structural changes in the profession (and also many other industries and professions) brought about by globalization and rapid advances in information and communication technology have made it necessary for many accountants to be equipped not only with knowledge and skills in their areas but also in many other areas. Accountants today need to be "master" in their trade but also a "jack" of many trades. Multi-tasking and multi-skills are familiar words that constantly ring loud in our ears.
