How to Read the ROC Search Report

Introduction

The ROC Search Report better known as “Matlumat Syarikat’ is a common report that can be obtained easily from the Suruhan Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) for a small fee. Many may use this report as an initial or even primary source of information to find out about a company. Users may use the information in the report as a basis for to evaluate the company’s management, financial performance and position for a variety of reasons.

However, the report may not be helpful and useful if the user does not have an understanding of corporate entities, how the information on the report is obtained and arranged and where to look for additional information if there is inadequate information to do the evaluation.

This seminar is intended to equip users with the knowledge on the workings of corporate entitles and filing requirements at the ROC so as to enhance the reading of the report in an effective manner.

Course Leaders

Winson Han
Winson Han is a Chartered Accountant by profession and has over 30 years of experience having served in various roles as practicing accountant, company secretary, financial controller and management consultant.

He has facilitated many public and in-house seminars in financial analysis, financial planning & budgeting, credit and collections for clients like Sime Darby, TNB, TM, RHB Bank, MIA and CIMA over the years. He has been the principal facilitator for “Financial Analysis and Valuation”, a core paper for a post graduate diploma in applied finance and investment awarded by FINSIA, Australia.

Mr. Han holds a degree in commerce from New Zealand and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, Malaysian Institute of Accountants and Malaysian Association of Company Secretaries.

Mike KM Ng, PJK
Mike K M Ng has been engaged in the financial and corporate sector for more than 30 years. Over these years, he has accumulated extensive experience and skill sets in management accounting, financial planning and management, company secretarial practice and taxation.

His initial involvement in training commenced as early as1975 when he was lecturing in curriculum for working adults in the educational institutions viz. Goon Institute, Goon Computer & Management Studies Center and Informatics Computer Center. His last position was as Group Accountant in the commercial sector before establishing his own firm and commencing practice in 1985 as corporate consultants, financial planner and company secretaries.  

Mike is a fellow member of the Association of International Accountants, United Kingdom, National Institute of Accountants, Australia; and Malaysian Association of Company Secretaries. He is also a member of the Malaysian National Computer Confederation and a Certified Financial Planner.
